photo workshop at ZOORASIA YOKOHAMA ZOOLOGICAL GARDENS
Aug.2 & 3, 2012
We had "Photo Discovery" summer photo workshops with kids at ZOORASIA Garden on Aug.2 and 3 as collaboration activity with Zoorasia. Participated about 60 kids and learned the animals and their home environment of the animals with the explanation by the staff. They took photos Indian Elephant, prevention gibbon, Malayan tapir, and Sumatran tiger. It was an opportunity while observing the animals, take pictures, to know more about the animals an the natural environment.

During the summer music events and workshop for children at Minato Mirai Hall at Yokohama, presented photo exposition of wonder eyes. Many kids who visit the music events, come to open their eyes to the different world, looking at the nice photos by the children of the different countries.
digital archive of the photos by the children of the world - first decade of 21 century
10 years have passed since Wonder Eyes did the photo workshop with the children in 2000. This decade overlap the big change from film to digital. Gathered these photos by the children, scanned from the films, a total of 1,400 sheets of nega films of the project in -- Australia, Brazil, Cuba, East Timor, Iceland, Indonesia, Mozamique, Peru, Refugee camp in Kenya, Russia, Uzbekistan, and Japan (Ginza, Tokunoshima, Sado, Yokohama). And a total of approximately 45,000 photos together with the digital data. This is the unique document of the beginning of the 21st century through the eyes of the children.

On Apr.29 2012, having a photo workshop with the children at Hakozuka-Sakura, temporary housing area of Natori City,
Miyagi Prefecture. The people living at this housing are of Yuage fishing town, which was totally damaged by the Earthquake
and Tsunami. At the workshop, children took photos freely near the the mound where the cherry blossom is in a full bloom
in the shinny spring.
As a cultural exchange of the same "North East", 53 Brazilian school children of Ceara, north east state of Brazil,
gave the warm hearted drawing message as cultural exchange.

there was a chance to meet the children again,
those who participated in the photo workshop around 10 years ago...
They are now adolescent, with lots of dreams.

Yuriage, Natori City - Dec.18,2011
On Dec.18, 2011, the children gathered at Wonder Eyes photo workshop at Hakozuka-Sakura, temporary housing area of Natori City, Miyagi Prefecture. The people living at this housing are of Yuage fishing town, which was totally damaged by the Earthquake and Tsunami.
At the workshop, children took photos freely near the the mound where there is shrine. It was cold, but sunny day, and they found camellia flower, shinning cloud, some animal figure statues, etc.
Thanks to the kind friendship of the overseas, the children received the Season Greetings from Iceland and Brazil. Thank you for the school children and teacher Hulda from Iceland, also teacher Suraia from Brazil.

Wonder Eyes Photo Exchange - Japan x Peru-Amazon
The children of Peru and Japan took photos and exchanged the photo cards with the messages.
Participated about 150 children in Japan, with more than 180 postcards. Supported by Japan Foundation

In November 2010, carried out the cultural exchange between the children of Japan and Peru in Pucallpa, with the collaboration of USKO-AYAR,
Peruvian Amazon Painting School. Some photo cards from Japanese children exhibited at the school, and then, children received the photo cards for exchange. Also, some children wrote a message with some picture again for the Japanese kids. Participated also the students of school, Sollertia (Instituto Educativa Sollertia) .

and the school children received the photo cards made by the children of
Peruvian Amazon, and for the exchange, Ojiya students took photos and

"Uniform Improvement Committee" is Japanese girls' pop group, doing the volunteer
work and music lives. Mika Hashimoto is the leader of the activities, and with her collaboration,
11 girls of the members participated in the photo exchange. Having received the postcards
from the Peruvian Amazon, and for exchange, they made photo card with a message for
the children in the Peruvian Amazon.

In 2010, the International Year of Biodiversity, carried out the photo workshop in the Peruvian Amazon, Pucallpa, with the collaboration of USKO-AYAR, Peruvian Amazon Painting School and cultural exchange between the children in Japan and Peru. At the workshop, children take photos freely, communing with nature, invited to the forest area, natural park and zoo, discovering a beauty and wonder. Also, using disposable camera, they took daily lives. Selecting the photos by themselves, making photo postcards with messages, the participants will exchange these cards with the Japanese children.

*** USKO AYAR is a non profit painting school, founded by Pablo Amaringo (artist, ex-shaman) and Eduardo Luna (anthropologist) in 1988. As the Director, Pablo Amaringo was honored with the Global 500 award (by United Nations to recognize the environmental achievements of individuals and organizations around the world) in 1992. The directed was passed away last year and the school is challenging for the better.
