What do the children see and how do they live ? Approximately 6.8 billion people live on this planet Earth, and it is said the children are one third of these population. Wonder Eyes Project(Japanese NGO) have been carrying out the non profit photo program with the children of the different countries in the world.
Sumatra's forests are very rich in biodiversity. And it is the last place on the planet earth where tigers, elephants, orangutans and rhinos can be found together... How many of us know about this treasure of the world? Actually the forest of Sumatra has been vanishing. In the last quarter-century, 30 percent of the island's forests have completely disappeared...
Wonder Eyes Project, WWF Japan, and WWF Indonesia carried out the photo training program for the children as the collaboration project in Sumatra island, Indonesia, in Oct/Nov 2009 : Bukit Barisan Selatan and Tesso Nilo National Park where natural treasures still remain while forest and wild animals are in danger(please see the left side).
A total of 174 children of age 7-16 years old participated and they found themselves feeling the joy of taking photos and creativity of photography while communing with nature.
Also, the children received the postcards from Japanese children and they sent the exchanging photo cards made by themselves. Presenting their selected photos together with the photos of wild animals at the photo exhibitions, we hope their "wonder eyes" will inspire the future of the better world.
Wonder Eyes activity was covered widely by the Indonesian media. The honorary supporter of WWF-Indonesia, Nugie, a very popular Indonesian Musician and Davina, an indonesian top model, also visited and supported the photo training activities.
